Acebrophylline is a medication used to treat respiratory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It works by reducing inflammation and improving airflow in the lungs. Acetylcysteine, often abbreviated as NAC (N-acetylcysteine), is a medication used primarily as a mucolytic agent to help break down and thin mucus in conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, and bronchitis. It also serves as an antidote for acetaminophen (paracetamol) overdose and is sometimes used off-label for other conditions, such as psychiatric disorders. Acetylcysteine works by breaking the disulfide bonds within mucus molecules, reducing its viscosity and making it easier to clear from the airways. It can be administered orally, intravenously, or by inhalation, depending on the condition being treated. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, and a foul odor due to its sulfur content.

Acebrophylline (200 mg SR), Montelukast (10 mg), and Fexofenadine (120 mg) are commonly combined medications used to treat respiratory conditions such as asthma and allergic rhinitis. They work together to improve lung function, reduce inflammation, and alleviate symptoms like wheezing, coughing, and nasal congestion.
